Kyra on Cape Cod
Since moving to the East Coast, my proximity to Cape Cod has been on my artistic radar. This fall, I ventured out there with a clear intention: to blend the serene landscapes with a human element. I invited Kyra Muttilainen, a talented dancer from the Boston Ballet, to come along and play a role. She was the perfect collaborator.
My inspiration drew from the works of Edward Hopper, whose ability to evoke emotion through light and shadow resonates deeply with my artistic style. As we began the session, the shifting light and dramatic clouds of Cape Cod enhanced the atmospheric backdrop, while Kyra's movements infused the imagery with a narrative quality.
The collaboration proved to be a noteworthy success. It’s a testament to the transformative power of nature and art when they intersect. The resulting series captures not just the beauty of the landscape but also the ephemeral essence of the dancer, reflecting a story unique to both the medium and the moment.
